A Day in the Life of Michelle Wermuth

August 15:

This was an incredibly difficult day of for me. It actually started at the beginning of this year. I have three sons: a 21 year old, 18 and 13 year old. This "day of" is about my 18 year old, Michael. Michael had a busy year which started with him earning his Eagle Scout, the highest achievement in the Boy Scout organization. He was chosen as squad leader for the trumpets in his marching band. He graduated high school and was accepted into the Music Education program at the University of The Cumberlands, three hours from home. Michael is the first of our boys to go away for college. So to say that I was emotional was an understatement. Editing these images brought tears to my eyes and he has only been gone 3 days.

Michael in whom I am so proud!

Two of Michael's best friends came over to say good bye. This is the three musketeers! These boys spent so much time at my home, I consider them my sons as well.

The loaded down truck. Incredible the amount of stuff!

 Waffle House for lunch!

Arriving! The campus of University of The Cumberlands is absolutely beautiful! It is located in the hills of Kentucky about 10 miles from Tennessee.

Bittersweet. The bridge to admissions.

 The campus of UC

The dorm building. This is one of three men's dorms. The girls are across the street.

Michael at his desk waiting for us to leave after moving him in. Up until this point I had been doing just fine! Then we walked outside to leave. I lost it as he hugged me goodbye.

The long drive home without him.

It is strange when you leave your child at college. On one hand I am so proud of him for following his dreams. On the other hand I want him to be next to me! He gives such great hugs and I miss them already. You never really imagine this time when you are raising your babies. You always think they will be small and cute, but then before you know it they are moving on and growing up before your very eyes.

A Day in the Life of Patricia Migliore

August 15:

The summer is slipping away and the days of beach and boardwalk will soon come to an end. On August 14, I pointed my car south towards one of my favorite spots to shoot: the New Jersey shore town of Wildwood. This was intended to be anything but a trip of rest and relaxation since I depend on my photography to make a living and must "stock the store" when I can!

On Friday, August 15th, with camera, lenses and tripod in hand, I hit the street, the sand and the boardwalk to see what I could find that was new and different from what I've done in the past.

I've done beach umbrellas before from the top, from the side....but now to try and find one that is interesting from below! And within minutes, it came in sight! And the Canadian couple lying below it were more than happy to let me disturb their peace!

The Wildwood Crest Beach Patrol is amazing! Ever vigilant, always friendly. And when their equipment is not in use, they leave it arrange in a great composition just for people like me!

Nice kids, playing in the sand. Happy to share their stuff with the crazy lady who seems to find their dollar store tube incredible fascinating!

Wildwood is known for it's vintage neon and retro hotels. This is the sign that I view nightly from the balcony of my apartment.

My evening walk out to the boardwalk takes me past the Wildwood Convention Center which has some really great metalwork and glasswork incorporated into it's design.

I've passed this boardwalk chapel for years but never seen anything going on there. Of all the shots I took of it, with people walking in the foreground, I like this one best for the positioning of the people standing listening to the music.

The food choices boggle my mind!

And after eating your Deep Fried Oreos, you can settle your stomach on one of these rides.

Friday nights; fireworks at the end of the pier!

1217: By the end of the day, I had made a significant contribution to the hole in the sole of my hiking sandals and logged 7.5 miles on my pedometer!

A Day in the Life of Claire Carpenter

August 15th:

Friday was a fun day at home. Our friends--the family of five--were still living with us, which made for lots of fun during drawing/craft time, snack time, and tv time. This time I managed to remember to take photos throughout the day, all with my 50mm.

Scissor time! As you can see, her technique is flawless.

Writing on his scroll to join the other kiddos in playing Zelda.

Evidence of littles everywhere! Snack time outside in the cool morning sun and some My Little Pony time.

I may or may not still be addressing our "We've Moved!" cards.... (designed by the fabulous Ann over at acbc design)

Library book time with Daddy :)

Reading my address book to discover all sorts of mysteries!

Flying with Daddy
In the bath.... How I love this boy.

Squeezing in a quick game of MarioKart before bed

But I don't want to go upstairs!

Toothbrushing time

Bedtime reading with Daddy

So yeah, I could watch him read to our children all day long....

Reading feet :)
After bedtime, chocolate ice cream with a drizzle of caramel and a sprinkle of sea salt for Mommy and Daddy :)
